Westchester Community Alerts

Westchester Community Alerts
Effective communication is essential to community safety in Westchester. That’s why the Village provides several emergency notification tools to keep residents and public safety agencies informed. We are committed to ensuring important emergency information is accessible when it is needed most.

The Village of Westchester has partnered with Everbridge, a leader in unified critical communications, to enhance how we keep our community safe and informed. Beginning in January, the Village will utilize this system—branded as Westchester Community Alerts—to deliver timely emergency notifications, public advisories, and important municipal announcements.

Public safety, community awareness, and effective emergency response remain top priorities for the Village. To support these efforts, it is essential that we are able to reach residents quickly and reliably when critical information is available. Westchester Community Alerts enables the Village to disseminate real-time information across multiple devices and communication channels, ensuring residents receive important updates when they matter most.

The Village has invested in the premium version of the system, which includes access to a secure, publicly sourced database of residential and business phone numbers. This database may be used only for emergency alerts. Depending on the nature of the situation, notifications may be sent to the entire community or to specific geographic areas within the Village.

Alerts will be delivered through residents’ preferred contact methods, including phone calls, text messages (SMS), email, and home phone lines. Calls from the Westchester Community Alerts system will display 708-345-0020 on caller ID. Text messages will be sent from 89361, and messages will also be distributed via email.

In addition, the system allows residents to self-register, manage their notification preferences, add additional contact information, and subscribe to specific alert categories. While emergency alerts may be sent using the system’s database, residents are strongly encouraged to register for Westchester Community Alerts to fully customize how and when they receive notifications.

Westchester Community Alerts replaces the Village’s previous emergency notification system, formerly known as CodeRED. All resident information is protected and will be used solely for emergency notifications or for the alert categories selected during registration.
